Estate agents and rental companies now have to be registered and insured and meet and conform to rules and regulations, all for the benefit and protection of owners, buyers and tenants.
The Data Protection Act is being enforced with the help of the Police Forces. This legislation is to protect people’s private information that has to be given for example when buying, selling or renting a property. All companies must be registered and able to demonstrate that their business practices conform. Compulsory educational courses for company officers must be taken.
